Different Now

Missing image

I shall not wait to see the final flag descend
off comes the makeup of old wasted yesterday's,
on, new diguise of frozen smiles and winning ways
all is at an end, finished with the make pretend.
Different now somehow.

No more the partner to this ruthless game again
out of my depth this time I found this lake too deep,
run out of all reasons why, no more tears to weep
decision made, but who is to say why or when.
Different now somehow.

At last to escape this dark suffocating mist
welcome in reality find me here right now,
did not want to change, fought against every vow
some things in life you cannot forget or resist.
Different now somehow.

Hard to forget I know, believed he was the one,
to see but not to look in love, must not despise,
on goes the frozen smile the thinly veiled disguise
all friendly meant 'hello's' endevour not to shun.
Different now somehow.

This is very good, sad yet vivid in emotional imagery. I really like it that you rhymed "again" with "when". Yay for American English! Some of my best friends here on AP are English and seem to think "again" rhymes with "pain"

Wow, you are really delving into the deep stuff now and making a most superb job of it too. You have a most brilliant range of writing now and this reads very well. You have spread your wings far and wide and it is a wonderful achievement for you. Very well done.

Your imagination works well for you as this is a very realistic piece of fiction. The emotions in this poem can be felt quite clearly with the last line of each stanza reinforcing it. Life would certainly be or feel different after being in this situation.
