i did not want you
to be greater than i
i did not want you
to be the star
so i ate you whole
holy mother and all
months i waited
in incessant thought
the weight gain and
swollen feet
could not compare
to the migraine
woken up
body on fire
head thump-thumping in time
until
you broke free
right from my mind
you in shiny armor
and perfect skin
you in worshiped
light and motherless
my constant muse
my superior in this land
of gods and goddesses
you are beyond all that
you are my child
Author notes
4. Greek Mythology is a very interesting topic, and I would like to see some poems inspired by any of the stories....
AN: I chose to write about Athena. My daughter is named after this goddess and I thought it would be interesting to write about Athena, the goddess and intertwine with Athena, my daughter. This piece is what is produced so far.
