The botanical gardens.

The botanical gardens.

I was young, loved jumping in puddles and pulling on pigtails.
Walking with Nan on raised wood through mangroves,
smelling native fauna and listening to song coming from tree resting birds.

Her hand had a hold of mine, it always did.

I’ve grown up
but never grown out of those sunny days,
painted in all the right places with shade and vibrant coloured flowers.

It’s been a while Nan, we need to go again.
Let us meander this boardwalk and absorb the scenery
together, once more.

Author notes

Memories of time spent and time I will spend again, with my Nan, at the botanicals gardens...My fav part, the boardwalk through the mangroves

Hope you enjoy...

A treasured memory brought back with poetry - thanks for sharing such a tender moment - we don't appreciate nature as often as we should
    Good Luck in the contest

Another strong write, Cindy. I enjoy nearly all of your poems, but when you write from those places that have such personal meaning to you, it is just wonderful. I could feel the fond connection in your poem here, almost feeling envy in a desire to have such a great memory myself. I think it is a job well done and wish you luck.
