This is a grand idea, to semaphore the name of the bird. The title shows us how to open the poem. Good luck!

This is very very clever....I really liked it very much. Not a typical poem that I would expect in this contest, but how unique. Thank you very much for your entry.
The fun thing about red winged blackbirds is to watch the male defending his territory. He will defend it from bigger birds, dogs, cat’s horses and even people. I have been hit by a blue jay before, but not a red winged blackbird. They have a distinctive song that is very lovely. Most people think of a robin as the first sign of spring (in my area), but the red winged blackbird is my indicator that spring is here. In the wild, red-winged blackbirds live 2.14 years, on average. The oldest recorded red-winged blackbird in the wild lived 15 years and 9 months. Thanks again for your entry.
