To Grace the Strings

Only fading veins of shadow
reached over the subtle crown in the courtyard; Sol
hiding his oppression behind the aged hall.

I sat with my back to The East,
gazing into the blue sky through the break in the shadows
and plucked a melodic arch of yellow roses.

The veins
disappeared as straight black lines
took their place, and
small blots of leaf-made shadow
faded to notation along the reborn veins.

I turned to face the mighty bleached visage and the dull brass strings
glistened as polished gold foil in the rising morning majesty.

The music broke and all
faded back as I
chose a new spot to survey the passing of bodies.

In the shadows I
found refuge as my fingers
frolicked gaily across golden plains and
created in each lighthearted step worlds of ebbing and flowing depth.

Author notes

Today I sat outside in the early morning sun and played my (five string acoustic) bass guitar before the heat got too intense or threat of sunburn drove me to the shadows and finally indoors. jraehazy asked me to paint her a picture of it.

mmm, I like where you chose to create your stanza breaks and I like the minor revisions...I'm glad you put it up, it deserves to be read. I really like the way you describe the sun throughout the poem, and the lines of notes are beautiful.
