Everybody Loves An Escape

The winds blow
smog on the simple city
down the alleyways
just beyond the graves
beyond the whorehouses
and beyond the churches.

The street corners filled
with more than drug dealers
child dealers all down the street,
unable to see the melancholy faces
of the ones being force sold
to the highest bidder
of non-affection.
The strange man
cold and bitter inside
asking for some lady of the night
to please him one time
one night for the rest of his life.

~~~
The children
not sold in the street
in a home
away from life
they once dreamed.
Screams float up
profane words not to be said,
glass breaking
probably the molded beer bottles in the sink.
The local pastor or priest
-what have you-
Sitting high
infront of the throne
of the church
"Pray for salvation,"
they say
"because we are all sinners
and surely our sins will be found out"
But Monday through Saturday
they apparently didnt listen to their own sermon.
Isn't that a transexual they're buying false love from?
~~~

And in the house
just down the street
a girl is holding her gay sister
through the painful nights
like only the other gay people go through.
Isn't love supposed to be free?

And the price of gas went up again today
$200 per two gallons
soon we're not going to afford it.

~~~
and then there is always tomorrow...
Well??
