Across the Seas
Wages this terrible war
The people never agree,
What it is that we are fighting for.
Into the hands of serenity
Our soldiers fall
Fighting back and forth
For all of mankind
So blind we are to the pain
Of the families broken
While their sons and daughters are slain
And their whisper of sorrow is so soft-spoken
In God's hands
He holds the fate of many
Very few do understand
Why they die for us
So I preach it loud
And you shall hear my cries
For it is the cry of the proud
For I love the ones who fight for me,
And risk there lives.
Wages this terrible war
The people never agree,
What it is that we are fighting for.
Into the hands of serenity
Our soldiers fall
Fighting back and forth
For all of mankind
So blind we are to the pain
Of the families broken
While their sons and daughters are slain
And their whisper of sorrow is so soft-spoken
In God's hands
He holds the fate of many
Very few do understand
Why they die for us
So I preach it loud
And you shall hear my cries
For it is the cry of the proud
For I love the ones who fight for me,
And risk there lives.
Author notes
so many people dont understand why our soldiers fight and die in Iraq, but the least we can do is respect them and let them know we care by showing our respect to our country, and give a damn about the lives lost and the families broken.

Beautiful, powerful piece. Love the sentiments and the Author Notes. They are out there making the ultimate sacrifice to fight for a country they believe in; the least we could do is respect them and be there for the families.

the soldier is separate from the politics...one can agree or disagree with the politics, but one should always respect the courage and devotion of those willing to give the ultimate sacrifice. A well thought out poem.

Your words pull the tears
from my heart
So much loss and so little gained
