cold coffee
is the end of my day
i like it sightly milked and
lots of sugar
i savor it slowly
enjoying
the goodness
i dunk in
a day old biscuit
then take a big bite
of my evening's bonne bouche
it is june
the middle of the month
the middle of the year
i gaze out my window
at the soft start
of the evening's rain
beneath a willow next door
a young girl
plays a flute
so soft so slow so sweet
in the distance
thunder rolls
a dog barks
and i
begin to cry
