Cold contrast of icicles' sharp shards
and winter's soft snow.
Variations of the flower's soft silky petals
and the spiky thorns upon a sweet rose.
Sunlight sprinkles its golden dust
always, wherever it goes,
should I embrace or decline
the shower of tender glow?
Lend me a breath of passion and zeal,
steal the apathy from the depth of my soul.
Let me accept the offer of brightness,
show gratitude for my spirit improved.

Nice way to express the contrast.

This is a beautiful poem. I love the images you painted with your words. I enjoyed the read! Thank you for entering my contest.

Nice study in contrasts in the opening verse. The last verse brings nice explanation to the images n the first. The middle verse, a question, heightens nicely the dilemma before the writer. Do we accept our own desire to turn away and suffer or accept and celbrate all the joy brought our way. Very niecely done with lovely imagery and metaphor.
Love, Tom B.
