Very nice. I love the depth of contrast in this short little gem. Brittle with endearment, beautiful thorns... words I do not naturally associate yet you have made it seem very natural in this poem. It was not hard to connect to the speaker. Any time you can achieve that in so few words/lines, I think you have done a fine job. Good luck in the contest, and thanks for sharing this with us.
