Prince

A child, broken on the ground.
Life had left, innocence drifted away.
7 years of amazement all drowned out
By a single pain. A single touch.
It left her pained. It was all too much.

No one cared, no one to see.
So touched again, she turned to dust.
Her ashen smiles fooled a passing glance.
Thats all she got. Never had a chance.
A broken girl with a hollow face
All she needed was one painless embrace.

Sick one day, she lay on the floor
Of her doctors office,
And peered through the door
A boy her age with firey eyes
A kind smile showed through
And took her by surprise.

Terrified, he glanced around
Was she really looking at him?
One else was to be found.
She was called into the office,
But snuck out to find
This strange boy who suddenly
Had made her heart feel alive.

Huddled behind a desk he hid,
She stared at him smiling,
But he backed away in fear
This girl must be crazy,
But somehow he was draw near
She was caught and pulled away
But it seemed like he had
Something he'd wanted to say

Years went by, but he haunted her dreams
This boy became her savior
She lived to meet him again
More than anything she held on
From this subconcious memory
Which kept her going strong
So she could find this forgotten friend

One day she went to sing
For some boys she knew from school
But one of them caught her eye,
He was more than just really cool
There was something familiar about his face
That took her by surprise
Something about the way he smiled
With fiery, loving eyes.

Years passed and these two budded into friends
But secretly, they blossomed too
And their love for each other grew.
He knew of her hurts,
And how she was in great pain
But he took care to never hurt her
His efforts weren't in vain

Soon she said I love you
And he eagerly said it, as well
Years had passed, then one night
Her dreams returned to the boy
For whom she had fell.
Finally she told him
Of that moment way back when,
When she had first seen herself in a friend.

He gave he the oddest look
And told her of old dreams
A pigtailed girl, staring him down
At the doctor's where his mother used to work
On the other side of town.
He thought she hadn't been real,
But had loved her none the less
He'd always wanted her so bad,
But never did confess.

The two friends laughed
And held each other close
Their love and their saviors
Were one and the same
He said he'd wanted to ask her for a hug
But was too ashamed

The one thing she had really needed
Had been there for her all along
The two lovers would never part
For intertwined, in one another
Each had the other's heart
And to this day, to have and hold
They became husband and wife
And every day, prince charming
Rescues his darling from everyday life.

wow, a tale of two who really were meant to be, Love tried several times to let it be, but fate intervened, and eventually, over a long period of slight recognition and various happenstances of running into each other they found the love, they would have

Known many years before if they had only realized it was simmmering beneath youthful dreams. Lovely poem~Thanks for your Entry~~Artis
