The gentle heartbeat you must strain to hear
Must only be felt through loving gesture
The soft yet constant thumping when you're near
'Tis self control which I quickly muster
Your hand placed innocently upon mine
With utter swagger it seems you grin
For you are aware of my state of mind
Yet you still tickle the desires within
Such teasing betwixt yourself and I
Twas with a snap the tension promptly broke
And with the break came actions flying high
With intentions louder than if we'd spoke
But, ah, with love no doubt our hearts ignited
The harmless passion 'tween lovers excited

poem :]
I was trying for the excitement of first love and exploration. Also, I wanted to challenge myself and do it in the proper form of a sonnet. [ABAB CDCD EFEF GG in iambic pentameter] Not my best, but hey. I'm trying.

Great effort. You catch well that moment when two seek to be available to the heart of another. The silly ways we behave the awkwardness with which we behave. Very well don.
Love, Tom B.
