a mist will never leave a scar
a dream won't ease your fears
if I hold you in these arms
no scarring will appear
windows filled with broken panes
like children in the dark
a bullet finds its target there
and leaves a telling mark
like love that leaves no traces
or marks upon the floor
or bruises from the sad embraces
or weeping from the sores
like leaves that fall in autumn
or motes dancing in the air
my heart still beats with promise
when I touch and stroke your hair
like nights that hide intentions
like a face that shows no pain
a winter's child is broken
and will never come again
like love that leaves no traces
like children in the dark
a bullet always remembers
and leaves a telling mark...
