Friends, Silence?

As she says goodbye to her friends
She takes her time
Dreads going inside
"Is he drunk again?"

She gets a little shaky
Her friend notices the fear
But doesn't say a word
Watches her walk to the door
Slowly and step by step

She went to grab the handle
Then turned back around
Taking a look at her friends
She knew it might be her last
Waves goodbye like nothings wrong

Turns back to open the door

She holds her breath
Then closed her eyes
She slowly opened the door
With a prayer in her head
And a hope that he was in bed

First step in the house
She hears a slam
He is drunk, and mom is hurt
she tries to get him to stop

This is the worst he's ever been
Moms not moving
Dad is screaming
She can't take it anymore

  • my father beat the hell out of my mother and all of us kids but he was not a drinker. I swore that I would never be in this kind of situation and then sure enough i married an alchoholic who started beating on me. But this time I did not put up with it. I left his butt for 10 months a couple of years ago and told him that if he ever starts drinking again then i won't come back this time. thanks for sharing.
