my mother once told me
about one of her friends
how he was like no other
and everyone knew him
he was gay you see
some people turned him away for this
he was sweet as can be
nice to everyone he see's
after everyone went their different ways
a few years later getting a phone call
dying from aids
my mother tells me this story
and that no one will ever forget him
i write this story now
for everyone to see
that everyone is different
but we can all get this disease

By story poems I meant the long blocks of text. This one is perfectly acceptable.
Anyway, apart from some lack of emotion (I know this is a second- or third-hand story to you so you probably did not catch all the emotions) and reactions he had to the virus, it was cute. There were some slight subject-verb agreement issues along with a few other grammatical errors. Thank you very much for your entry.
