I used to hate the silly things,
I don't know why-
I love the taste
of strawberry shortcake
and strawberry-rhubarb pie.
But now, of late,
my opinion and taste
has changed:
Now I love the silly things!
I don't know why!
I love the smell
of strawberry scented
air-freshener gel
and home fragrance oil...
Strangest of all,
I've traded my preference
for chocolate shakes
to that of strawberry shakes!
I cannot tell
how or why this change
came about-
I have yet to figure
it all out.
But I think it has something
to do with spring...
The changing of the seasons,
the flowers on plants and
on shrubberies and trees;
just knowing that summer
is at hand, I think,
makes me think of strawberries.
I have searched in vain
at fabric stores
for strawberry-themed prints.
But I rarely found
any that I liked,
most were pretty lame.
They were mostly for kids,
and always garishly the same.
What am I to do?
Who am I to blame?
This silly fetish
is driving me insane!
All for the delight
of a few strawberry bites.

This is a lovely poem, but in this series we are looking to encourage poems with ordered rhyming patterns and smooth flow.
We are not saying there is anything wrong with this style of poem, just that it is not what we are looking for here.

For the love of Strawberries! Who can tell why this succulent fruit with the delightful scent and the dazzling color and delightful taste should have such a sway over ones' attention. This is a fun exploration into the the things that charm for unapparent reasons. Well Done!

I've always liked strawberries, but I've never been quite as obsessed. I like the little message behind the sillyness of the poem though, how things change. You don't always like what you used to like, humans always gotta change things 
.
