Warm blue sky outside my window pane
Beckoning me to come into the sunshine,
Softly calling my name
Encouraging.
And for a moment
One tiny positive thought enters my mind
Only to be crushed by the million negative ones.
I curl back up under the duvet
There’s no point,
No reason for going anywhere,
Doing anything
No need to get up.
Stay here in my safe haven
Believing myself free
But deep down knowing
I’m imprisoned within my own state of mind.
No power to change
No energy to make a difference
No ability to take charge of my ship.
Someone please direct me
Help me to find a path in life
A direction that I can follow
Someone please steer me
Realize that I’m losing my grip
Desperately trying to hold on
Please someone help me
Be there for me.
Author notes
Depression is something I'm all too familiar with, I've been surrounded by it for far too many years in my life, but writing about it does help. Hope this fits ok.

Somber.And all too familiar...Well written

I seem to have two extremes with this contest, those poems that are incredibly literal and in your face, and those that are full of metaphors and imagery. Not to say that one is better than the other, but it's a curious thing that the subject of depression has brought out two entirely different types of poetry.
As for your poem, I thought it was a little wordy, I think you could have tightened it up a little. I don't know whether the random rhyme was deliberate or accidental, but I found myself confused by it more than anything.
Other than that, it was lovely, very honest.
Thank you

Amazing, you always have such great imagery. It's a very touching piece I could feel the sorrow in it but yet a hand peaking through hoping that someone will catch hold in the end. It's very powerful, wonderful work. Good Luck in the contest =)
