Tiny children will
mouth your words
as their fingers
trace your thoughts,
years from now long after,
you are at last bookmarked
in the crevice of the
final chapter of your life.
You will live on
in the imaginations of
youthful exuberance delighting,
over your lovely stories.
Fresh energetic muscles
will reenact the tales
you spun so long ago.
This then is your legacy.
some birthday gifts you'd seldom
think about getting,
but they sit way off
in the future, waiting
gift wrapped and ribboned
in bright festive colors.
Till some wee ones will open
each to find your book.
Your stories will tantalize
their hunger to read,
as they feed off of
the creations from the heart.
Breathing life into your dreams
long stilled in the flesh
but vibrant and leaping
from the witty pages,
as they clap their hands
with joy and chase
the clever verbs
