today the sun
forgot to
rise, the birds
had to lift
it manically.
beating wings
make teenage
flings in corn
fields- purple
mills stoic.
the barn, body
pressed to it
tightly, pursuing
atheist sex.
the body,
not the barn.
burning
aggressively;
a rapist-
the farm goes
up in flames
that claim
everything.
even the tractor.
even the little
man plowing.

Oh... *is a bit awe-struck*
I must admit, I recognized the title, though I haven't read the book yet. But this poem really took my breath away, no matter where the title came from. The way you put words together is enticing, like a calligraphy made from diction. I loved "pursuing atheist sex" and the ending was phenomenal.
Really, the whole thing was such a fantastic read I'm going to have to read it again. Bravo! *bows down in admiration*

Wow! This poem is definitely very full of passion and warmth, I like it. Very interesting beginning, the sun having to be lifted by birds is such a beautiful image, and it comes in contrast with the heat... physical and emotional... I really like this a lot.
