Neruda's Wisdom

Missing image

This wind will whisper
your wild words

long after
you have discovered
sleep unending,

Poet.

You cannot perish ~

passion will not cease
to yield towards yearning,
to purify your memories of moments
so rare,

whether penned on parchment
or silent like a song.

For as long
as there is love lingering
beneath these bountiful branches
bearing fragile fruit,

we will know
the secret scent
of your melting music,

the tender taste
of your touch...

from: "Ode to an Aged Poet"

"He offered me his hand
the way an old tree might
extend a broken branch
stripped
of leaves and fruit"

by Pablo Neruda

~ * ~

from: "The Word"

"I take the word and go over it
as though it were nothing more than a human shape,
its arrangements awe me and I find my way
through each variation in the spoken word --
I utter and I am and without speaking I approach
the limit of words and the silence.

by Pablo Neruda

"The Light Wraps You"

The light wraps you in its mortal flame.
Abstracted pale mourner, standing that way
against the old propellers of the twighlight
that revolves around you.

Speechless, my friend,
alone in the loneliness of this hour of the dead
and filled with the lives of fire,
pure heir of the ruined day.

A bough of fruit falls from the sun on your dark garment.
The great roots of night
grow suddenly from your soul,
and the things that hide in you come out again
so that a blue and palled people
your newly born, takes nourishment.

Oh magnificent and fecund and magnetic slave
of the circle that moves in turn through black and gold:
rise, lead and possess a creation
so rich in life that its flowers perish
and it is full of sadness"

By Pablo Neruda

This is a beautiful representation of inspirations, as well as the poet himself. Neruda is indeed one of my very favorites, and this piece is a beautiful dedication of sorts in his honor. Well penned, with nice imagery woven throughout. Thank you for your entry!

If nothing is ever lost, Energy converts to matter, matter to energy

I ask what energy is love?
    Does it matter?

    It cannot be destroyed
    It can be inverted, perverted
    converted to hate

You can only change the way you look at it
Recognize the different ways it appears
    Fear it;

    Embrace it...
    Look at it openly
    Adjust your soul
to be sustained by its power

Neruda, I have found is a poet that sets off emotions to varying degrees. Love, Lust, political arguments to name a few. However, I always have found his poetry to be intersting at the least and profoundly passionate and honest at it's best.

You have obvioulsy studied his work well to be able to produce such a wonderful poem similar to  his own high calibre.

    "You cannot perish ~

It's so beautiful, so breathtakingly lovely, almost achingly so. It tells of times long gone, and yet, these times are undoubtedly a part of the present. Even your punctuation helps you to your end.

I will be bookmarking this. You know how many times I've done that on this site? Never before.

    Well done.
