Every inch created
to mimic a perfect life.
10 fingers
10 toes
2 eyes
no more.
Carbon copied
melted and moulded;
to fit in a box
waiting for a day to live.
Eyes so sweet,
cheeks pinched red,
lips full of colour:
painted face of an angel.
Clothes
you can remove. Revealing
bare skin and scars
"Made In New Zealand".
Cabbage Patch or Voodoo Doll?
Barbie Does Barbiturates,
Strawberry Skank
and the history of the golliwog.
Living doll
trying to escape the Factory.
Someone will buy,
mistreat
and leave in a rubbish bin.
Ken is no longer the action figure
superhero, he's a lazy bastard.
Teddy bears are cute to look at
but I'd hate to go there.
Acting out the perfect life
this perfect doll
in a perfect plastic box
feels alive in thoughts and emotions.
Author notes
CONTEST: I want you to pick an inanimate object in your home, or wherever. Take that object, and give it personality. Tell me what its feeling, its self-image, its status among other fellow objects. What does it do? How does it contribute to society? Why is it different from the rest? Pretty easy, right?
But I don't want to you to pick just any object. It must relate to you in some way. By describing this object, you're describing yourself.

This made me laugh! And think. It's an awesome poem. Very very cool.

superhero, he's a lazy bastard.
Haha loved this line, and the subtle humour throughout.
That line reminded me of someone, hmmm.....hahaa.
Really cool concept, wish I'd thought of it! -
