the last night

so i’ll burn fire ‘till the sky freezes over, death riders and all, because i simply no longer give a damn,
my dear, do you understand that? i no longer give a damn,
and god, do as you will because you will anyway and nothing i nor anyone else could do ever had any chance of swaying you;
the old monarchies had it right in saying their ruler was god—i'm sure they were exactly alike
i'm sure they discussed their corruption strategies together

over crumpets and tea
and broken hearts
i think they work better that way than new, because the sun no longer rises since i crash-landed on my sixteenth birthday into the world of “say this” (no innocent don’t do it don’t do it just say it; you should know better than to do what you
say)
poems are nothing but getaway cars that never worked so take your makeup and get out get out get out (how); maybe you can bribe the cops, maybe you can bribe the cops, because bodies are only good for selling

to compromise integrity, love, morality, and the essence that keeps your heart beating for more than circulation purposes for a rolling train that flashes on the tv screen on the 8:00 news
says “new year brings hope for a bright future!”
with medical advances ((allowing)) FORCING more poor train ((wreck)) victims victims victims to ((live)) KEEP ON BREATHING one more day

the last night the dictionary broke; i'm sorry i couldn’t find the meaning

Author notes

I know this is kind of... weird.

But I read a few dada poems, listened to Motion City Soundtrack, and this happened. Um... thoughts?

As a huge fan of dada...wow! I thought this was very powerful. I could actually see this being performed on a stage- with frustration and heavy emotion. This really could be an excellent monologue. What motion city soundtrack album were you listening to may I ask? You don't hear of them inspiring people often...but they do inspire me to dance however....anywho GREAT write. I would definitely read more of these if you wrote them.

not a whole album; just individual songs. Mostly LG Fuad, and Broken Heart and some others.
It's surprising they don't inspire more people; their lyrics are absolutely beautiful.

Interesting style. I haven't really looked at any so I can't comment knowingly, but I get the idea from your writing and think you've made a pretty good job of it as you can feel the piece unravelling, the rythmn sounds like a rusty train on a broken line towards the end....
