At the young age of seven, she was touched by God
and devoted her life to the poor and infirm.
A Dominican nun, she tore down facades
and demanded the Church make peace in return.
A whispery touch, does anyone care?
A hope for healing, is someone there?
She lived her life on heaven’s mission
Her efforts were tireless and never ceased.
She was touched by angels and given a vision
of the worlds to come and the way to peace.
The lightest of touches, a feeling of care,
a prayer for healing, is Catherine there?
She lived her life without thought of herself
and died of a stroke when she was thirty-three.
Her lifelong good works spoke for themselves.
Long before sainthood, her soul was free.
A cooling touch by a hand that cares,
a sureness of healing, St. Catherine’s there.

A beautiful ode! You told so much about her in this and it's so nicely written. It's so rare to read a religious piece that seems truly beautiful rather than sappy or totally anti-religious. Thank you for entering this. Very intelligently done.
