Little Fires

Just a hint of flame is oft neglected
can't possibly warm or bring any joy,
never could bring a blessing
that my heart would feel a need
to dance at the end of Heaven's string.

How long I wandered aimlessly
through the labyrinth of token smiles
believing all the plastic icons
enthroned on sitcoms
could bring me happy endings.

But day travail with more shadows
than victories,
dull and monotony being anvils
slamming my head against time's wall.

Boredom beget my sunrises
even when I chase halos
in the cathedrals of eternal wings,
which gave me fear and soul jitters,
yet no song that played with perfect pitch
upon my heart's piano.

During a moment of purest yawns
I scribbled a doodle of incoherent angst
something overwhelmed in the gush of thought
energy from that inner well
flowed over those words.

It stirred a peace and joy I had never know
leading from one scrawl to whole sentences
until I found within the communion
happiness unlike any other,
not Eden, nor Oz
just a place I could dwell
where nobody came to steal my dreams
and I didn't have to worry
if anyone else approved of my paradise.
