broken hearts

 

"Together forever"
Those words spilled from
his lips
He couldn't have said it better
This is what my weary heart, my dreaded soul
was looking for

But wait...what?
This isn't true for you
anymore?
Help me define forever
Because I thought that meant all of time
Never to depart from my arms
What is it with this lying?
Just tell me


Is she prettier than I?
Does she think it's cute when you cry
at the moonlight, even though you're a guy
Will she be there "'til death do us part"
or, like a twig, break in two what once was
called your heart

"Together forever"
is what he said
Lying to my face
is what he did

I'll never find another one like you
Even though you so delicately
Snapped my heart it two

    I hate those words "Together forever"...this biggest load of tripe I ever heard!!! thanks for sharing this poem, I could really feel the pain, and maybe some bitterness thrown in for good measure.
