someone in whom I held contempt.
The constant flapping of her lips
violated my peaceful state of mind.
A chronic complainer with a negative vibe.
Always kicking up dust and causing a fuss.
The fact that she was five years
younger than me frustrated the
situation even further.
I would have to say although
I did love her that she was
my least favorite sister.
We were like oil and vinegar
placed in a jar.
Only tolerating each other
because we were family.
As the years went by and we
both matured I began to respect
her so much.
She was a single mother abandoned
by her babies daddy like so many.
Yet she stood the test and raised
an outstanding daughter who is a
role model for the younger ones
in our family.
My sisters name is Tonya and she's
proven to be a great mother, sister
daughter and friend.
Our relationship changed when our
mother was stricken with a stroke.
Tonya was the only one to really
step up to the plate and take
care of our mother.
Everyone tried to be there for
mother but my sister Tonya
took full responsibility.
Even in the midst of all that
she managed to get her college degree.
Our mother suffered multiple strokes
and one big heart attack.
She had the last stroke while she
was sleeping and went into a coma.
My sister was with her every day.
She went through a living hell trying
to juggle being a mother herself
along with work and her career.
She never complained but stood
stedfast until the end.
Our mother passed away on July
24,2006 in her sleep.
My sister Tonya has become the
center for our family.
Eventhough she's not the eldest
we all respect and admire her
for her love patience and strength.
It gives me so much pride to be
able to share this information
with my AP family.
There is so much more I could
tell you about this truly unique
person who is my sister.
But I'll end by saying I love
her from the depths of my heart.
She's displayed so much character
and courage.
I would do anything for her.
Tonya this ones for you baby.
Love darell forever.
