dark swirling wonder
crawling up the rocks
brushing sand asunder
licking at my socks
the wind rushing by
singing a warning song
of a deep blue liquid lie
that will get you before long
deeply immersed in my darkest fear
I feel the cold touching deep inside
my own rushed heart beat is all I hear
matching the strict pulling of the tide
twisting and turning as I'm dragged below
deeper till the darkest light fades away
all the life speeding by me in the flow
leaves me behind for the light of day
silently quietly wishing for land
I look passed stars and sky
looking for just one hand
that could lift me high
so helpless to this
much greater thing
I seek just bliss
more than anything
dark swirling wonder
licking at my feet
leading me under
ceasing my beat

i love the water, beach, lake, swimming pool but fiercely hate when i can't see the bottom. my imagination runs wild and believes Loch Ness is beneath me staring at my butt

good write and good luck

Wow fab piece, love the imagery portrayed in this piece. Fear is a powerful thing. All the best in the contest with it

It is indeed. I like how you did not come out directly and say what you're fear was, you let our nervous conscience spin its own concoction based on our own experiences and fears. I like the line: 'licking at my socks' it made me smile.
This sounds similar to one of my own fears; the fear of dark and murky waters that i can't see anything in.
Thanks for your entry and good luck!
