Who are You?

Do you know who you are?
Do you remember who you used to be?
When did life become so monotonous?
So much you do as they do.

You say what they say
Walk how they walk.
You sing what they sing
And read what they read.

Where did your mind go,
Do they keep it in a jar?
When did the heart inside your chest
Become replaced by grinding gadgets
Controlled by a computer?

Through the drones of uniform
Does anything of difference come forth,
Life is the same, day in, day out.
The people all, shells of fluff.

Author notes

Inspired by "The Hollow Men" by T.S. Eliot.

I like the ending. "Shells of fluff" is a great line. I love the gist of this poem. I feel that way about people sometimes. Congrats of the Honorable winner...

Good interpretation of Eliot's poem. Even though "The Hollow Men" was written so long ago, it certainly applies to this day and age. That is the beauty of T.S. Eliot; so timeless and universal. Best of luck in the contest!

I always said this would a dull world if we were all the same, acted the same and liked the same things. Very dull.
This poem though is very interesting in the way that it presents just how dull things can become. Very well written. Keep the ink flowing and good luck.

Glad you liked it, and to explain the font, it was to show the dullness of everything, like there's no big difference, that's all. Thanks for reading and for holding this contest.
