Farewell words too often part
All their small and paling hearts
As the wind blows through the trees
It leaves a trail of memories
Of times when what they could not see
Left them sleeping peacefully
For now their hearts, forever twain
Leave the hush of gentle rain.
Author notes
I have the odd feeling that the first couplet is a quote, but I can't find it anywhere, and Google turns up nothing. If you can tell me anything, please do. If not, I'll just dismiss it as de ja vu.
^-^ I like the way it flows.

I loved the imagery this piece gave me
and I thought the length was perfect, condensed and to the point. I think the background distracted me the first time through - at first I could not latch onto the story and images behind the words. I adore the opening and closing lines. Very well written, I enjoyed reading this.
