who would throw this away-
this perfect, flawless Paul Williams record?
i found it in a thrift store, my sister
and my boyfriend bought it for me
with spare change- i have no money.
but now i have this record
to listen to with the air coming in
the open window. January in
New England and unseasonably warm.
My heart grips the music tighter than
my hand this pen- the last
thing left other than memories.
so close- a short walk on even
the worst day- but i can't get there anymore.
where am i going? oh,
where am i?
