after my mother slapped my face;
the preacher sighed, "You will surely burn in hell!"
as the prison guard locked my cell;
my hands shook beside me with a mind of their own,
as I climbed my porcelain throne;
the noose was made of materials from my bed,
a blanket for the sleep of the dead!
I stepped into the air with little thought of grace,
surrounded by the horror of each face:
the pitiful eyes that seemed that day to say,
"Father, you've taken our mother away!"
I killed them all, my wife and kids, you understand?
Strangled my lovely children with my bare hands!
Their screams are echoing in this cage as I swing from life in my final rage--
desperately trying to rip the page--and pass onto the eternal stage:
but they cut me down and ignore my cry!
I care not for Life! I just long to die!
See, cruelty sits in the lawman's eye (progeny of that first Eden lie):
there are a billion knots in the human tie!
Author notes
Sadness unveils itself like layers of an onion, at the core abuse, which manifests itself in abuse, resulting in ostricizing of self from man and God, and perhaps confirming in oneself a sense of damnation, leading to the outward act of destroying all that you have created, including yourself, but finding, in the end, that society will not let you go: the ultimate hell. These are the ties that bind us.
