Music Slowly Descends

Music slowly descends
Caressing me with her dark, dappled hand.
Bright eyes shining with centuries of knowledge.
From the earliest Gregorian chants
To the newest rock anthems.

She has no race
No religion.

She is everywhere,
Is in everything.

Always singing
In her voice of chords
Of sounds
Of rhythms.

I feel her within me
She opens my mouth,
And I begin to sing

Author notes

I am a musician, until my dying breath.

Very beautiful and well written...rhythm is a part of life and a part of us...even if we don't sing...it makes us feel and know we are alive...wonderful metaphor and flow...nice job!
    Best to you!

From one musician to another, great work! I loved this piece; music is one of the only things in life which chooses its 'voice' without judgement. I liked the way you set this up- music being like a spirit, which embodies a person and lives through them, and vice versa. This line was my favourite:

    She has no race
    No religion.

    She is everywhere,
    Is in everything.

    So true. Excellent work!

Music is indeed a universal language and can be found anywhere, if one is improvisational enough. Good job.
