you remember when you was a kid
and your parents took you to the beach
while they're there sleeping under the umbrella shade
you're playing in the sand making sandcastles
and you notice in the sand lots of seashells
you started collecting them one by one
to make a necklace around your neck
later you're sipping lemonade and having a barbeque
so beautiful and sparkling in the sky
then your parents called you back
and took you home

Ah, "parting is such sweet sorrow!"
I remember those trips to the beach...I still go, I haven't brought my sand pail in a while and I'm lousy at sandcastles, but give me a good book and a cool drink and I'll sit there all day.
Your poem is quite nice, too bad you didn't tell what poem this is parody of.

It's definitely a poem of contrasting feelings, but the good far outweigh the bad...and those are memories similar to mine, of course mine usually began with my dad yelling that we had to clean out the car before we could go to the beach, so I guess my bad memories outweigh the good, lol.
Is this a parody, if so, of what? You didn't leave a link to the original. -
I found the text colour difficult to read on that background. Despite that however, you have penned something that will make many reminisce their childhood days, carefree and collecting seashells on the shore. Best wishes to you.
