I think I know who wrote this, so I'll just say this made me think of Buffy and Spike!
Always a plus...Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a show with more than just vampire violence--it's about redemption, power, being disconnected from the world, controlling/utilizing one's power...and...back to the poem.

Hmm, a very vivid way to describe a soul or any kind of internal personality change. I love this line.
