A year goes by

Spring
you left this very morning
I cried and said goodbye
you promised me you'll return alive

Summer
I keep your letters close
when I sleep they lay near
so I can pretend your voice I hear

Autumn
You are still gone
I am alone
Waiting for you to come home

Winter
My days are cold and lonely
For the visit I received today
Told me you'd been buried far away
