Thinking and pondering
reviewing through my mind
every step, every turn
every note, every line
Heart is racing
breathing fast
Places! we're on
the moment at last
One step
and I'm on
The crowd awaits
for my song
I begin my act
for I'm no longer me
I'm her, my character
that's what they want to see.
The lights so bright
burning and hot
I move here and there
from spot to spot
This is my life
I'm living my dream
I'm up on-stage
but they don't see me
I do not exist
I'm her, the character.
I pass them on the streets
They've seen me before
but they don't know it's me
for in their eyes, I don't live
Can you still not see?
I'm her, the character
there's no such thing as me.
Author notes
I dream of becoming a actress. I love the feeling I get onstage. I've wanted to be an actress since I was a little girl and have never given up on my hopes and dreams. "I'm an Irish Samurai."

I have a lot of friends that are actors and this is just one of those things I will never understand. The becoming of "her" or "him." I suppose it is something mortals do not understand. I loved your poem though, it's fast-paced and really well-written. Terrific job.

This was a very well written and well paced write. By having it flow and employing such short sentences, you let your reader feel that mixture of adreneline and nervousness you get before you get on stage.
I'm a theatre major myself, so I'm no stranger to how it feels to be up on stage and have everyone looking at you. I played my first major lead role this year, and it was an intense rush.
Best of luck in pursuing your dream.

great write...for the first time i saw how an actor/actress might feel. No one sees them as who they really are, but the character they play in a movie or t.v. show. That was wonderful!
