The sons I gave birth to
several years ago
Are the joys of my existence
this I want everyone to know
When they were little babies
and depended on me so
I did all I could to nurture them
so they could learn and grow
When they were growing teenagers
with the usual problems and woes
They made me laugh and made me cry
and kept me on my toes
They've grown into fine young men
independent and strong
So kind and very well mannered
in my heart they will always belong
They've learned courtesy respect
honesty and do no harm
Years of learning to perfect
all contribute to their charm
One day soon they will go away
out of town to another state
There for several months they'll stay
Mom's concerns won't abate
Yes my young adult child
is heading to military boot camp
Uneasy he's feeling riled
when he ascends the plane's ramp
He will be counter trained
in order to survive a war
Values he thought were ingrained
in a few months are no more
War is a sinful action
so ugly evil and mean
It changes one's reactions
and feelings toward human beings
But when all is said and done
my boy will still bring home
All the compassion he's ever learned
and known from his Mom
Please tell me what you think

Beautiful
This is beautiful. I must confess the last lines brought a few tears to my eyes. You are an amazing writer, friend and a wonderful Mother. You raised 2 very outstanding young men.
