More ancient than you'll ever know,
For aeons we have sang our chorus,
Why silence now our resonant flow?
Though of the sea you found your birth,
You have subdued all on the land,
Now to cast your eyes below,
Envy driven, with bloodstained hands.
Our kind, we speak a better way,
That you would learn it is our heart.
Oh people, will you ever hearken,
Or from this world see us depart?
Forgiveness is the price we pay,
For malice has no place within.
Put down your weapons, tiny ones,
Know the peace that love can win.
Author notes
One of my dreams would be to actually go whale watching. It is truly shameful that we in our presumed superiority, kill creatures about which we still know so little. Often like young children we desire, so we take.

Very deep. I love the use of silence that could mean peace, and also the forgiveness that is the inner peace. Very nice!

This is beautiful, solid and melodic. I thank you for such an amazing poem. It flows brilliantly, and you obviously put your all into this, which I admire you for . The subject is great and spot on - man can be so ignorant and stupid sometimes. Thanks for an amazing poem, and I hope to read more of your poems. xx

This is so moving, you have captured something pretty special in this piece, I thank you for sharing it.
The tone and rhythm work wonderfully for the voice you have given the whales- I hope you do get to go whale watching, I have a feeling they may show up for you. Peace E x

Wonderful Bravo Perfect
If only they could speak, well now they don't have to. Each and every line was great I'm new here and must say this was the best so far. It helps that it's true and I feel strongly about your subject matter. Thank you for a wonderful look into your heart and good day to you. Boog

Animal speech
The way you spoke through the animal community in propagating the ever battled evolutionary theory is logical. But D do you really believe in evolution?

-
-
Oddly enough, no, I do not believe in evolution. Its simply that while writing this, the words fitted in
The main thrust of the poem is about mankind's vain greed.

This is a beautiful, and it carries a strong message. It is true that we humans tend to destroy something so precious that nature has provided. We all need to let them be and live in peace so future generations can enjoy their beauty too. Nice write! Blessings, Patty

Thank you. The contest caught my attention because of the prompt. Humanity considers itself so superior, while ignorant about just how intelligent other creatures are. We plunder with no thought given to the cost.

my dear this is superb
you liked mine? well this is really a piece of art. i felt the shimmering depth and nobility of these creatures, how small we are and capricious with our weapons killing and having no sense of peace and tolerance. it is so rich in everything, imagery, language, feelings, divinity for those noble creatures, and how petty we can be, WE SO CALLED HUMANS.
JUST LOVELY

this poem is absolutely beautiful. I would love to go whale watching as well. You worded your poem very well. I really enjoyed reading it.

A beautifully written poem about sea life. If humans don't speak up on their behalf, who will. There are so many wonderful sea creatures, I believe they are just as curious about us as we are about them. Congratulations on the HM....Katie
