When the white man came,He tried to claim everything in vain.
He gave it a new name, not knowing that once his foot touched the soil.
He brought a disease that will spoil everything in which he sought.
He claimed that what he sought was to be free,to live in the peace and harmony.
But his greed became the undoing of the ways of old this is what I am told and what I know in my heart to be true.
The once great nation who lived in peace and harmony with the creatures of both land and sea.
The ones who respected life and only took what was needed to survive.
Tried to teach the new comer at hand how to live off the land.
They tried to live with these very different men,who just seemed not to understand. Who carried hatered in their hearts and never gave a second thought of what would be the cost. They told the great nation that they would not take their way of life away. The white men lied and caused the strife.
They took away the land to which they had no right to claim.
They took more then what they needed to survive.
They forced the great nation to fight for their way of life.
They made it so you could no longer hear the prancing and pawing of the mustang, or the deer that used to live so near.
They took away the forest in which the wolves use to run so free and easily.
They made the animals leave in fear of becoming extinct.
They forced the great nation to cry to the great spirit above to help them defeat this fierce enemy.
The white man kills a lot of people in the once great nation, woman, children, and the old where targeted the most under the white flag of peace don't you see this is why the Natives don't believe what comes from the white mans lips it is all a death kiss.
The ones who refused to fight end up being taken from what they knew and put some where the white man didn't want or choose to claim as theirs for they knew it was a harsh land to live off of and to survive.
They enforced the once free people of the great nation into a new kind of slavery called a reservation hopeing that disease and starvation would take the rest of that nation.
They silenced the nations voices and they hid the wrongs in which they have done.
The great nation still today is fighting to be free and the white man call the land of America free for all then why don't they make it so admitt to the wrongs of the past give back which they know is not theirs to begin with.
The white man need to stop trying to control everything in which they think they know. The great nation knows best better then the rest that you can't control the wind, the rain, or even a persons soul!

Awesome Job
I think you have said it all in this one poem and I really enjoyed reading it. Line 9 really touched me. I may have very little Native American blood in me. I have studied the history of Native Americans and have lived around them. I hate the way they were treated and to me this is such an awesome poem. Wonderfully written and I love the emotion you let flow. Niaish for sharing.

A very good write. Heartfelt. You express your anger very well in this piece. Good flow and internal rhyme. Deep expression of emotion. Niaish for sharing this with us.

I'm sorry my ancestors treated yours so poorly. That is not the opinion of all white men or women. I liked the internal rhyme in your poem and niashi for sharing it.

I love the spirit of the write.
You speak well of the nation. You speak well of your anger.
