Two pals together
to a land with gold
after collecting some
contended, returned home,
to enjoy with ‘what he got’
other stayed into dark
extended his stay
toiled day and night
made huge heaps of gold
‘days do not suffice’
to mine inexhaustible
what is scoured is made up
greed is blind to the ploy
continued with its nature
until he left everything
‘where it belongs’
returned home empty handed

I think I actually get it. Even if not, I believe it gave me a message good for everyone to know of. Greed hurts the greedy and the needy. The greedy fellow that stayed behind hurt himself because he couldn't take a share of what he had done all of that work for. But also, the one who went home was hurt from the greed in a manner of speaking. The truth of knowing that a friendship could be so dishonest that a friend would try to take more than his share should be. This was a tricky piece because you have to look deeper into the meaning of it, but it was certainly well put together. Especially what I believe to be my favorite line in the last stanza - greed is blind to the ploy. You've proven that - greed is most definitely blind to the advantage of things. If you're greedy, you won't get very far. Awesome write and good luck in the contest.
