I am among many dogs here,
at the shelter, that is,
but not many people come near
a dog like me, that is.
They go for the young ones,
tiny puppies galore,
the playful, funny, baby ones,
they all think I'm a bore.
They are cute, fluffy, and small,
my hair is just scruffed up;
just give me a chance, that's all,
I'll be as good as any pup.
I want to feel love,
I'll try to be good,
I'll fit in like a glove,
just like any dog would.
But I'm different than all the rest,
unique in my own special way,
if you want to do trial or test,
with me, it's okay.
I'll be your best friend,
and you'll be mine,
together 'til the end,
can't you see the sign?
Please adopt me,
I'm always forgotten,
I want it to be just you and me,
until we start rottin'.
Go look at a rescue dog today!
at the shelter, that is,

Thanks for entering!
This is full of charm and was successful in tugging my heart strings. I don't like the fourth line very much since grammar is important to me. I actually had to read it twice to get the sense of it.
I LOVE that you have written about dogs that need rescuing. My newest dog is a rescue and I am crazy about her. It drives me crazy that she had to spend three years in a puppy mill turning out litters while she lived in a cage.
Looking at sites on line really opened my eyes to the horrible abuse these dogs endure. ~ Joyce -

I think you figured it all out and put some time into making it and you made it very cute, especially how described its fluffy ears and it being furry, I think it fits very well with the picture you chose too!
Thanks for entering my contest!

Bless you
So true we should all go visit the animals at the shelters and if you cant adopt then become ones friend and go visit often and see that they have all they need.

Jake was a shelter pup!
But I'm starting to think he's part wolf. Or he has a wild imagination. Maybe that's whhy we have so much fun together.
But I like your poem!
Do you volunteer for the shelter now?

My dog Riz was a rescue dog, I second that call to go look. She was my best friend for so many years. She had so much love to give, cruelly abandoned when she had pups. Thank you for a lovely reminder of a very special lady.
