As I flipped through all those old pictures,
I saw your face.
How gentle your smile used to shine upon your face.
The sound of your voice
Resounded throughout the room,
Echoing past all the noise
Only to be captured by the one you used to love.
Those happy times that we once both shared,
Without a simple care in the world.
Both compelled to make it work
Despite the troubling times.
Now our paths cross once again,
But this time, I know that it can never be,
Just you and me.
I used to cry awake at night,
Trying to forget.
Now it's quite plain to see,
How dysfuctional it would all be.
And I'm over it.
Happy to bask in the glory
That no chains attached,
Free as a bird,
To be who I want to be.
