Broken Memories

thousands of thoughts, swim throughout my mind
i'm unable to sort them away, or understand their nature
i remember people, who's faces i have long since forgotten
i think of situations, that brought upon glittering crimson tears
nothing in the books of my mind make sense, not even images of you
the words are scribbled out, and the sepia images blurred
i rewind time, to play over our passions love
but tape falls free of the broken video, our passion lost forever
within my fragile hands i hold, the tear stained letter you last wrote me
it was filled with hope and cheer, that has dissolved away with time
from my body pours, the words that since have gone unheard
they stream from the torn flesh, brought to the surface by a shimmering blade
the rain cascades upon my window, tapping the transparent glass
an orange streak lights the sky, a boom rattles my unbreakable wall
i sit at home alone, waiting for the wailing sirens to go off
when at my door i hear a hesitant knock, in its frame is a dreary soul
soaked to the bone and shivering in fear, is my guardian angel
i take her in my arms, not daring to let go
but as everything great does, she disappeared before my eyes
all that was left behind from our encounter, is the image of a broken smile

I'm sitting here after reading this, and I wonder, what is the importance of rain in so many poems? Poets use rain so often, rain trickling down the windows in times of sadness... It's such a great image, rain and sadness, and I'm trying to figure out why, because rain can be completely beautiful and happy...
Anyway, I liked this, it showed a really good image, and it was so full of emotion, great job, although I did despise having non-capital I's everywhere, that's one thing I despise, other grammatical and spelling errors I don't mind...
Good job with this, thanks for entering and best of luck.

This has so much beautiful imagery, and it flows really well. I think it's because I know you that I get all of it. Even so, it's easy to read and understand.
