The gatekeeper; capturer of the damned souls
Sought to drag me into the depths.
Relentless agony; the battle fought.
Undefeated, his whip lashed into my back.
I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope,
for hope would be hope for the wrong thing.
I could not succumb to the pain that enveloped my body.
A hope for death was far too pleasant.
My back caught the whip once again
My body arouse and took up stance.
I could feel the flames of hell surround me,
but if that's what it took then so be it.
I charged to deliver the final blow
to all my demons.

Quote -"I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope, for hope would be hope for the wrong thing." - T.S. Elliot
Also it may read several ways, but I think it was probably more intended to be about changing the direction of your life and heading for a better one, letting no barrier stop you. Take it as you like though, =]

This is very good. I was mesmerized, held captive by your words. I love the ending, too. Great job. Shancy.
