When Crutches Break

She looked so very vulnerable,
standing there all alone.
What would she do now?
That her beloved was nearly gone.
Six massive heart blockages,
enough to send one on his way,
and where'd she go, to whom?
How could she make room?
For she had not the wherewithal,
to even begin to deal.
She'd never cooked a whole, full course meal.
She'd never learned to read or write.
To comb her own hair, was one big fight.
Simple things she just couldn't do.
Without him-the thing was through.
So, as he lay possibly dying-
she stood in the shadows of living hell.
Who would help her? Who would take the place of her lover?
Upon whom now could she lean?
Enough of these questions-save them...
She must find a place for her fears to go.

This reminds me of times when I worry for my mother's sake. It's similar, but at the same time different. Like the woman in this story, I'm afraid and I need to find somewhere for my fears to go instead of letting them get me down. But yet, my mother I depend on. She helps me with just about everything and I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost her. Although it wasn't your story, I feel for the one who it features. My heart goes out to her. All in all this was a very moving piece, and something many people tend to have to deal with. Just not all of us can cope. Thank you so much for entering and good luck.

Very sad and scary story. One many women have told I'm sure. A scary place for a stay at home mom to be in. Hopefully in this case the church will help.
