I would obey,
if I were a lamb,
the doctrinare
who threatens jail.
I was born this way;
it’s the way I am:
flesh and hair,
tooth and nail.
So I won’t defer
-- in fact, I re-“buff” --
the society
that would dress me.
Please, officer,
don’t be so rough;
it's propriety
that arrests me.
Author notes
This was a quick write for a contest dealing with nudity. It's intended to be humorous . . . NOT a personal position.

If public nudity were legal, would you exercise that option?

This one made me laugh for sure. This is a well-phrased, well-rhymed piece, and I really enjoyed it. Personally, I would not take advantage of a nudity-optional law, but that's just me.
Thanks so much for entering my contest!

Um ... Okay ... lol. Though I can't say it REALLY fits the prompt, it is very interesting with a good point. Thank you for entering.

Humm..there is a point and you are quite true while transcribing the prompt..I love this wonderful piece..well done...

Thanks for the bronze.
Hi Prabhu,
Thanks for the bronze. I appreciate it. I wasn't really sure how that poem would be received. :-)
Thanks too for the interesting prompt. It makes one think.

If public nudity were legal, no, I would not exercise the option...I get sunburned too easily, LOL, though I do love walking in the rain and snow 'unclad' from time to time...As to the poem...it is truly humorous and wonderfully so and I believe it fits both of these contests very well. I do wonder, if you are not a lamb (or as my son would say , a sheeple) what sort of 'animal' are you? Hmmmm..
Best of luck. Peace, Rhonda

Hmmmmm
mmmm...I'd have to say, I'm a human kind of animal. One who dreams of desert islands and shedding humanity altogether . . . if not for just a day or two.
By the way -- I consider sunburn preferable to frostbite.
