Silent winds whisper
omens of malice
and threatening despair
into her ears
as she waits
dragging her pointed toes
through the water,
without making splashes,
humming love songs
she heard on the car radio.
II.
Lying on the car roof,
staring at the stars,
he lies
cradling his one love close,
together as one being,
a smile spread across her face
larger than ever before
as she takes her lover's hand
and kisses it
with passionate lips
dying to speak
of devotion.
III.
Tunes fill her head,
dancing in circles
like children holding hands
as she waits by the riverside
watching the dragonflies
silently fly away into the dark,
and she's deafened
by the void that surrounds her,
only open to the past
that left too long ago.
IV.
He lies in the grass
looking up at the night sky
hand in hand with his lover
as they talk about nothing,
smiles larger than ever before
spread across their faces,
and all he knows
is the present,
and not the past he left behind,
waiting on a bank
to be spirited away
into eternity.
V.
A hand reaches out to hers
and she sighs,
taking hold of this new entity
and stepping out onto the platform
that now rests beneath her feet
because she's grown tired.
And she moves with the current into the fog, away from the bank, and disappears
like nothing was ever there.

mythology, corpse bride
I was truly inspired by the image and I was feeling particularly creative with this. I saw this story of, if you didn't understand it the first time, a girl who waits on the bank of the river styx for her lover, who has left her behind for another girl. So her lover's basically an ass that moved on before she could. A tragedy. *sigh*

So sad... I love it.
I've seen the picture before and have written a poem based off it. (Nothing compared to this one.)
Amazing imagery. Thanks for following all the rules.
Best of luck. This is so amazing!

thanks for joining my contest
good luck -
This is really creative, and has a nice flowing quality. I really like the images you create. Also, how you sort of draw in modern times with mythology. Well done! Thanks for entering and being patient.
