alone

dread fills her head
as she stumbles to bed,
knowing tonight she might as well be dead.

Her pain is not physical,
so there's no drug to take.
yet she longs for an Advil to dull this great ache.

She has lost herself in a world filled with sin,
fearing nothing could ever make her happy again.

What he took from her she'll never get back,
the thought of that night still gives her heart a smack.

Its mostly erased from her memory now,
but it keeps getting brought back up someway, somehow.

the police want to help,
her therapist wants to put her back on track,
but all she wants is to forgive and forget.

All her life she was taught that forgiveness was the best way to cope,
yet no one understands her need to let this go.
they cant except her forgiveness.

"dont you think he deserves to be punished for this"
the question that everyone expects her to answer,
and yet her answer is never the right one.

Why wont they let her move on?
