Oh you maidens who fall asleep
upon the left breast of the moon,
nocturnal and whispering poetic fulfillment
into my solitary
and sometimes
vagrant soul ----
this night I thank you,
for I am naked and unencumbered,
feeling the delicate kiss of your words
upon the nape of my mind.
You have blessed me with the elegant
scented herbs of the Orient,
the saffron feathers of a mystic swan,
the golden light of metaphorical phrases
and the sweet aroma
of wild African petals.
You have taken me in your arms
beside midnight fountains
and bathed my parched spirit
with the healing waters of Albion —
I can hear the gentle harp strings
of your collective essence,
ruminating in gentle persuasion
inside my sometimes wild
and animated ear —
and I am calmed and able to drift
like a child inside the sacred river
of your dreams.
Oh I have been given the gift of honeyed femininity
and will be ever grateful
that you have caressed my fragile limbs
in the forest of your graceful
and tender oration.

Marc,
I signed on tonight to read this beautiful piece of poetic artwork, and I am so honored to be included with these women. I am so deeply touched by this poem, and that you thought of me among these incredible ladies that you wrote of. You are a beautiful and kind man, dear Marc, and you have brightened my world so much by your inspiring words and wonderful heart--thank you so very much

Oh, thank-you Marc! I'm so honored, humbled, and extremely touched to be included with these women. There are so many poets here that have encouraged, inspired, and invigorated my sense of passion, and appreciation for the world around here; these woman, yourself,
and so many others. Thanks again, this was the first thing I read this morning, and it goes down exceptionally fine with my first cup of coffee. Just simple wonderful!

This is stunning, such a lovely tribute!

This poem is one long sigh I can realte to; a few poets here who constantly stun me with their words and seem to rejuvenate me when I lose hope. You are among those poets and you know it's not just your poetry that humbles me, but your selflessness. I think if everyone in this world felt things with just a fraction of the passion you do, the world would be in a much fitter state than it is now.
Truly, an beautiful poem, rich with imagery and honesty and emotion.
Thank you

Marc... this is so very beautiful! I just woke up here and finding this very generous and very poetic tribute is simply wonderful. I feel honoured to be among these other lovely and talented women, but mostly knowing that somehow, somewhere I have touched you is even better, my friend. You have a light that shines through you poetry, a light that I have always felt and appreciated across time and sand.
Thank you for the beauty, the passion and compassion of your heart and soul and for sharing it with us this way. Now you've gone and made my eyes all soft on this Monday morning! You are an inspiration, my friend - thank you

Well Marc, the feeling is mutual. Upon reading this I am humbled and honored a poet such as yourself would even put my name into this group. To know I have touched you is beyond a thank you. It's an eternal friendship I hope will grow and foster in this community of poets. Thank you my friend.
Love, Cheryl

Yes Cheryl it is indeed a wonderful community of friendship and creativity . . . maybe one day we will all gather together in some verdant garden and trade poems long into the night . . . In the meantime, keep on banging on that socially conscious drum of yours AND UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE BEING HEARD!!!!!! love, Marc
