the sun goes out
the light is gone
the world is dark
birds end their song
the world's so big
but the darkness is bigger
the people scream
he pulls the trigger
anything can happen
when the lights go out
some people sleep
and some people shout
the fears of dark
is something i hold
murderers don't care
if you have a heart of gold
the dark has its secrets
and the dark has its pains
the dark is evil
when it plays its games
night can be fun
but not for some
the people who die
when darkness has won
you can open your eyes
but little can see
you have no advantage
and even less time to flee...

I like the rhyme scheme, I personally think it adds to the piece. I'm actually amazed that you stuck so well to the scheme. there was only one verse that didn't follow so I'm very impressed. I've never been good at them.
The fact that the piece pulls other things than fear, as a kind of comparison was a good choice and draws more interest to the writing and subject as a whole. good job, great write!
